Kay Frances St.Amour, age 76, of Marinette, Wisconsin, and formerly of Munising, Michigan was called to her Heavenly Father on January 6, 2022, after a brave 3-year battle with lung cancer.
Kay Frances Peterson was born to Howard and Kathleen (Tallman) Peterson on June 25, 1945. She graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1963 before moving on to graduate cosmetology school. She married Richard St.Amour on August 22, 1965 and together they went on to adopt and raise two daughters, Michelle and Cindy.
Kay held many jobs over her lifetime including day care provider, bank teller, grocery clerk, waitress, and beautician, but the one she loved the most was being a mother. She spent most of her years as a stay-at-home mother to her two daughters and she enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and doing kind things for others whenever she could. In her later years, she was blessed with two granddaughters, Addison and Harper, who she loved dearly. She enjoyed teaching them her recipe for homemade potato soup.
Kay was a friend to many. She had a huge heart and was an avid listener. She enjoyed playing Words with Friends and taking casino trips with her mother, Kathleen and her sister, Barb. Perhaps her closest friend was always her sister, Barb, who she shared many stories of childhood revelries and who she talked to on the phone daily. Barb was her partner-in-crime. They had many adventures over the years and were never far apart, in distance or in heart.
Kay’s love of her life was Richard, who she was married to for 56 years and who was by her side until the very end. Their marriage was an old-fashioned kind- one where you don’t give up when the going gets tough but you lean on family and faith to see you through the hard times.
Kay is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard St.Amour of Marinette, WI., her children- Michelle (Sean) St.Amour-Smith of Lewiston, MN, Cindy St.Amour of Marinette; her mother, Kathleen Peterson of Munising; her siblings- Barb (Ted) Fulcher of Munising, Jim Peterson of Munising, Greg (Sharon) Peterson of Wetmore, MI, and Kelly Peterson of Munising, This also includes many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Peterson.
Kay’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Ocran on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church in Munising at 3:00 p.m. She will be escorted by Patrick Moncalieri, Greg Peterson, Jr., Amy Peterson Crisp, Shawn Smith, Todd Fulcher, and Nicole Peterson.
