Keith J. Steinhoff, age 73, of AuTrain, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Munising Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 24, 1944 to the late Arnold “Skeeter” and Alice (Berube) Steinhoff, and was a lifelong Alger County resident. Keith graduated from William G. Mather High School in Munising in 1963. He married Ellen Bennett on October 29, 1976. Keith worked as a papermaker at Kimberly Clark and retired with thirty-three years of service. He would also work on his weekends at Harry’s Shell. Keith was a member of the AuTrain Township Volunteer Fire Department from 1977 until 2008 where he was Fire Chief for many years. He also was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, AuTrain Township Board, and was a part of building the softball field in AuTrain. Keith enjoyed fishing, boating on the “Irish Lady” with friends, hunting, listening to music, camping, bowling, softball, snowmobiling, ATV riding, and driving his Jeep in the woods with his Dalmatian Angel.
Keith is survived by his wife of forty-one years – Ellen Steinhoff; children – Pam (Mike) Hansen, Lisa (Jake) Steinhoff, Alice (Joe) Prunick, Mary (Rick) Lopez, Annette (Tony) Zaleski, Beverly (Elvin) Dominick, and Fred (Nancy) Bennett; sister – Joyce Schnepper; sister-in-law – Helen Steinhoff; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents – Arnold and Alice; brother – Lloyd Steinhoff; sister – Arlene (Wayne) Anderson; brother-in-law – Jack Schnepper; sons-in-law – John Dominick and Rod Bonevelle; grandson – Jacob Dominick; and great-grandson - Tyler Bonevelle.
A time of visiting with family and friends will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
