Kenneth A. Prato

September 14, 1916 — March 3, 2015

Kenneth Augustus Prato, age 98, recently of Tender Care Nursing Home, passed away March 3, 2015.

Ken was born September 14, 1916 in Marquette, Michigan to the parents of Charles and Myrtle Prato. Other than a brief time in Lower Michigan, he was a lifelong resident of Munising, Michigan. He married Vida Lustick on May 4th, 1940. They were married for 67 years.

Graduating from William G Mather High School in 1933, the family believes he may have been the last living classmate of that year. Ken served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in November of 1945.

Ken earned a certificate through DeVry Technical Institute via correspondence acknowledging him as an electrician to which he applied throughout his life, first at Korvela Company and primarily with Kimberly Clark Corporation at the Munising Plant from which he retired.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing (no matter the time of the year!!!!) and his children look back with fond memories of the many picnics and rides through the woods they enjoyed while growing up. He loved telling stories and jokes which were embellished each time they were retold.

Ken is survived by his three children: Linda Depew, Norway, Michigan, John Prato (Marcy), Sherwood, Wisconsin and Allen Prato (Judy), Wetmore, Michigan. He is further survived by his sister Virginia Ahola, Stone Mountain, Georgia, sister-in-law Christine Lustick, Escanaba, Michigan, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and extended families of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vida, his son-in-law, Jack Depew, his sisters, Ruby Mahalic, Mary Gosselin, Alice Strand and a brother Richard Archambeau.

A private memorial service with family and close friends will be held later in the year.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Tender Care for their compassionate care of our Dad.
