Trenary
Lena Pasanen, age 95, N1116 E-T Road, Trenary, died early Thursday morning, February 24, 2011, at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on April 7, 1915 in Loudspur to Isaac and Alma (Petamaki) Ylinen and grew up in the Carlshend area. Lena married Alfred Pasanen and they raised their two children. She worked many years as a barmaid. Lena and Al owned and operated Herb's Bar and the Long Branch Bar (which is now the Trenary Tavern.) Al preceded Lena in death on May 30, 1964. She also worked for the Senior Citizens Meals program. Lena was a hardworking woman and she enjoyed dancing, flowers, gardening, traveling a bit, the Senior Citizens Center and the community of Trenary.
She is survived by her daughter - Sylvia Hogan of Marquette; son - Alan "Sonny" Pasanen of Trenary; grandchildren - Phil (Tina) Pasanen of Trenary and Tricia (Bill) Foran of Green Bay, WI; great-grandchildren - Brierra, Brooke, Elijah, Willow and Callee; nieces and nephews - Susan Niemi, Dennis Ylinen, Darren Ylinen, Eino Luukkonen, Karen Schultz, Gary Luukkonen, Robert Lukkonen, Clark Luukkonen and Heather Ylinen. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, husband Al, brothers Eugene, John and Eino Ylinen and sister Ruth Luukkonen.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the First Lutheran Church in Trenary from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with L.L.M. Tim Mulvaney officiating. Interment will be at the Mathias Township Cemetery in Trenary.
