Lois A. Huddleston, age 81, of North Ferguson Road, Eben, died under the loving care of her family and Lake Superior Hospice on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 8:08 a.m. She was born on December 19, 1930 in Nenzel, Nebraska to the late George and Mary (Bell) Nollette. Lois' mother died when she was four months old and she was raised by her aunt and uncle. She grew up in Nebraska and after graduating from high school, she attended nursing college in Lincoln, Nebraska. After searching the want ads, she and four other new R.N.s took jobs in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Lois worked in the E.R. and O.R. at a couple of different hospitals in the Detroit area. In 1958, she married Floyd W. Huddleston and together they raised their five children in Allen Park. They were married over twenty-seven years when Floyd preceded her in death on July 3, 1985. Lois retired from the Operating Room of Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn in 1995 and in April of 2000, she moved to the Eben area. Lois belonged to the local garden club and she loved being at her home gardening, canning, freezing, and watching the birds and wildlife.

She is survived by her five children - Mark (Paula) Huddleston of Clinton, MI, Mike Huddleston of Eben, Michele (Frank) Kenney of Grass Lake, MI, Mary Anne Brandenburg of Marquette, and Molly Huddleston of Marquette; seven grandchildren - Kimberly, Christopher, Aaron, Diana, Matthew, Danielle, and Patrick; great-grandson Jacob; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents - George and Mary, aunt and uncle - Catherine and Arthur Nelson; and siblings - Joe, Bernard, Tom, John, Lucille, and Marguerite "Muggs."

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Covenant Church, 588 Carlshend Road, Skandia with Pastor Todd Spranger officiating.
