Munising
Lois Sisson, age 90, of 200 W. City Park Dr., Munising died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Munising Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Mary Lois LaMouria was born July 31, 1917 in Munising to the late Peter A. and Mary Louise (Vallier) LaMouria. After attending high school at Wm. G. Mather, Lois began working at the Williams Hotel on Grand Island, Munising Wood Products, and the Munising Paper Mill. She also was a baker at Elmer's in Escanaba. After the death of her husband Jack R. Sisson on January 7, 1975, Lois went back to school in Chicago to become a florist. After completing her schooling, she enjoyed many years as a florist in both Escanaba and Munising. She also worked at the Chamber of Commerce in Munising before retiring. Lois loved gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was a very giving person; you always left with more than what you came with when you went to visit her.
Lois is survived by her three children - Mary Lee Rogers of Christmas, Rick (Anita) Sisson of Albion, IA, and Lori (Richard) Anderson of Gladstone; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; stepchildren - Esther Britton, Roberta (Sisson), Carol (Richard) DeBree, and Jaclyn Andrus; brother - Benjamin (Edie) LaMouria of Wasilla, AK; and sister-in-law - Emma LaMouria. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack; son James T. "Ted" Thomas; stepson and daughter-in-law - Richard and Ruth Sisson; and siblings - Theodore, Peter, William, Maurine, Lloyd, and John "Bob" Robert LaMouria.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home. Fr. Chris Gardiner will conduct Lois's funeral in the funeral home's chapel beginning at 1:00 p.m.
