Lorena F. Zabriskie, age 96, of Limestone, died peacefully on March 1, 2020 at Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee. She was born on November 3, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to Perry and Lola (Hill) Weir. Lorena grew up in Detroit and graduated from Cooley High School. While working for Chrysler, she met William Zabriskie and they were married on December 17, 1953. She and Bill owned and operated Zabriskie’s Market in “Beautiful downtown Watrousville”, after moving to the Caro, Michigan area. Lorena and Bill moved to the U.P. in 1984 and purchased Wandering Wheels Campground and operated it until 1991. Limestone became their home, and they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome for many years.
She is survived by her children – Vickie (Dennis) Bragg of Chatham and Robert (Judy) Zabriskie of Virginia; grandchildren – Marc Bragg, Jonathan (Isla) Bragg, and Cabot Zabriskie, and great-grandchildren – Kyle and Aiden Bragg. Lorena was preceded in death by her parents Perry and Lola, husband Bill, and sisters Virginia and Patricia.
