Lucas George Bell

Our big hearted son and brother, Lucas George Bell, of Milford Michigan, died September 07, 2024 at the age of 36 in Grand Marais, Michigan. “Luke” is survived by his parents: Richard Bell and Melanie Picel-Bell and his brothers Sam Bell and Jake Bell (Lauren Bell). He was well loved by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Luke was born in Royal Oak on February 25th, 1988, raised in Bloomfield Township Michigan, and spent his summers in Grand Marais MI. Even as a child, it was clear to everyone close to Luke that he cared deeply for the people around him and had a kind and gentle soul. At a young age Luke started consuming everything he could read, a habit that he carried through life. His knowledge was broad and vast, a person you turned to for help on crossword puzzles but not someone you wanted to debate. After graduating from Groves High School, he attended Michigan State University, Wayne State University, was an EMT, and was studying to become a Radiology technician at the time of his death. Luke was crazy about motorcycling and was especially fond of motorcycle traveling and camping. He traveled most of the country on his motorcycle alone or with family/friends and loved making new friends along the way. He cherished his recent 10,000-mile motorcycle adventure around the U.S. In-between motorcycle trips, Luke enjoyed leather work and recently rekindled his enjoyment for skiing with family. Always ready and willing to lend a helping hand, Luke could often be found helping his friends and family with projects and helping people get through tough times. Luke would give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar in his wallet, always putting others before himself. He expressed gentle kindness towards animals, and they loved him in return. He will be fondly remembered as having the loudest laugh in the room, how he could work the f-word into nearly every conversation, and his passion for long and loud political “discussions”. We were blessed to have the time we had with Luke, and we miss him dearly. 

 Family and friends are invited to gather to remember and celebrate Luke’s life on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Rich and Melanie’s home in Grand Marais. A time for sharing stories and remembrances will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by visiting and time together.
