Mamie Katherine (Maki) Anderson

November 30, 1924 — April 8, 2016

Mamie Katherine Anderson, age 91, of Limestone, died on Friday morning, April 8, 2016 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising.  She was born in Eben Junction on November 30, 1924 to Finnish immigrants August and Anna (Saastamoinen) Maki.  Mamie graduated Valedictorian of her class from Eben High School and then Ferris University.  She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at Henry Ford Hospital.  She married Paul Bernard Anderson on September 16, 1972 and moved to Limestone.  Mamie went to work at K.I. Sawyer taking care of the medical records for the Airmen.  When the base was closed, she retired.  Mamie was a member and caretaker of the Limestone Baptist Church.  She loved doing paperwork.  Mamie and Paul had a lot of fun travelling to different rummage sales and hosting their own sales.  She also enjoyed gardening.

Mamie is survived by her husband of over forty-three years – Paul Anderson of Limestone; son – Mark (Alyce) Anderson of Chatham; sister – Olga Marie Hakkinen of the Eastwood Nursing Home; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters – Helen (Bill) Wamsley and Alice Aleena (Toni) Harja, and brothers – Sulo Adam Hakkinen, Leo August Maki, and Arvo (Arlene) Maki.

Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Sunday, April 10, 2016.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.  James Hall will officiate Mamie’s funeral service in the funeral home’s chapel at 3:00 p.m.   Interment will be at the Limestone Township Cemetery on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.

Donations are requested to be made in Mamie’s memory to the Limestone Baptist Church.
