Wetmore Marcia D. Rasmussen, age 62, of North Townline Lake Road, Wetmore, checked out of this life on earth and checked into heaven on February 8, 2012. Where will you spend eternity? But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12) She was born on October 30, 1949 in Fremont, Michigan to the late James and Barbara Klingler. Marcia graduated from Newaygo High School in 1967 and then went to work at Sakner's in Grand Rapids. Marcia married John E. Rasmussen on February 28, 1970 and they together raised their two sons. The family moved to the Munising area in 1980. Marcia taught kindergarten at the Munising Baptist School for five years, worked at Glen's Bakery, and worked as a custodian at the Lakeshore Manor until her health declined. She was a member of the Munising Baptist Church and enjoyed spending her Tuesday's sewing for Missions with other members of the church. She was an avid outdoorswoman who loved to fish and hunt. Her deer always scored higher than her husband's or son's, and Marcia and John always celebrated their anniversary ice fishing on AuTrain Lake. They enjoyed spending time together and enjoyed traveling on their motorcycle. They especially enjoyed their week on a houseboat on Rainy Lake in Minnesota and the Alaskan cruise that they took. Marcia was artistic and complemented John's talents of woodworking by painting or carving details on his projects. She was a fabulous cook and was "queen of cheese dumplings." Marcia was a giving woman who always had an open door for the "wayward" boys that called her "Ma." She has left lots of great memories for those who loved her. Marcia is survived by her husband of almost forty-two years - John; sons - John (Linda) Rasmussen of Chatham and James Charles "Charlie" Rasmussen of Cochrane, WI; grandchildren - Samantha, Matthew, Annie, Lindsay, and Tyler; brother - Robin (Diane) Graff of Fremont, MI; sister - Gloria (Charlie) Klomparens of Ludington, MI; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister Kathy Ann. A memorial service will be on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Munising Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Gideon's Bible International. Donation envelopes will be available at the church.
