Munising

Margaret E. Maxon, age 84, of Munising, died Saturday, February 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising.  She was born in Seney, Michigan, one of twelve children to the late Fred and Mary (Troy) Hollingshead.  Margaret met James D. Maxon at a wedding, and one year later they were married on November 9, 1957.  Together they raised their four children in Brown’s Addition.  Margaret enjoyed listening to country music, baking, puzzles, and going on road trips with Jim on the back of their motorcycle.  She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by her husband of fifty-nine year – Jim Maxon of Munising; children – Sue Bond of Munising, Jim (Robin) Maxon of Munising, and John (Julie) Maxon of Madison, Alabama; grandchildren – Josh (Jan Ritchie) Bond of Munising, Matthew (Samantha Watson) Bond of Ashland, WI, Scott (Katie McVicar) Bond of Portage, MI, David (Amanda) Maxon of Munising, Adam (Brandi Anderson) Maxon of Munising, Amanda Maxon of Mesa, AZ, Melissa (Bond) Wells of Madison, AL, and Bradley (Laura) Maxon of Harvest, AL; great-grandchildren – Brielle, Lillian , Atley, Ashton, Emma, and Will; siblings – Reuben (Faith) Hollingshead, Anne Marie (Devere) Layman, and Pat (Russ) Marks; sister-in-law – Laura Hollingshead; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents – Fred and Mary; son – David Lee Maxon on July 28, 1981; siblings – Marian (Don) Wiertella, Tiny Iery, Collen (Ed) Williams, Velma (Cliff) French, Pearl (Bob) Baker, Jim (Margaret) Hollingshead, Elmer Hollingshead, and George Hollingshead.

Margaret’s visitation will be on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.  Rev. Mark Werner will conduct Margaret’s funeral service in the funeral home chapel beginning at 6:00 p.m.

****Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.****
