Margaret "Peggy" Rader

Margaret “Peggy” Rader, age 82, of Munising died unexpectedly January 6th, 2025 at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, California while visiting family for the holidays. Peggy was born May 11, 1942 in Detroit, MI to Cleo and Genevieve (Richetta) Beaudoin. As an army brat, Peggy moved around with her family, but finally settled in Calumet, Michigan. Peggy graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Laurium in 1960. She was proud to say that she was the last class to graduate from the high school before its closure. Peggy was a natural caregiver, so after high school she attended Northern Michigan University and earned an LPN degree. Peggy married Paul Rader on September 7, 1963 in Calumet. The couple moved to Munising in 1968 where they raised their two children Ann and Jon. Peggy was employed for 50 years by a variety of health organizations including Marquette General Hospital, numerous doctor’s offices, and nursing homes. In her spare time Peggy enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family, planning holiday meals, and taking care of her children. In later years, she enjoyed going to the casinos, golfing, and Friday night fish fry.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, sister MaryLee; brother-in-law Clark Lebo; son-in-law Timothy Morrison. She is survived by Paul, her husband of 61 years; daughter Ann (Mike) James of Hulbert, MI and their children and grandchildren; son Jon (Rebecca) Rader of Lafayette, CA and their children Katelyn and Anthony; brother Robert and Carol Beaudoin of AR; sister-in-law Barbara Baxter; nephews Mark & Chris Lebo, and niece Tara Baxter.

Graveside services will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet in the spring and will be announced at a later date.
