Marjorie "Margie" Ann Kroupa, age 84, of AuTrain, died peacefully at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee on Saturday, April 15, 2017. She was born on August 9, 1932 in AuTrain, Michigan to the late Roy and Adella (Doucette) Bonevelle. Margie graduated from William G. Mather High School in 1950. She married Darwin LeRoy Kroupa on July 14, 1951 and together they raised their eight children. Margie was a faithful member of the St. Therese Mission in AuTrain, she served on the Altar Society, worked bazaars, and cooked for many funeral luncheons. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, and quilting, some of her specialties were sweaters and flannel baby gowns. Margie worked at a number of places: painting bowls at Munising Woodenware, tour guide at The Paulson House Museum, nurse’s aide at Munising Memorial Hospital, and cook and board of education member at the Deerton School, and was an election board volunteer. She loved going to the beach and swimming in Lake Superior. Margie shared her love for the water by teaching her kids to swim in the AuTrain River. She spent many days watching grandchildren. She would make sure they made it to after school activities and would make them the best homemade mac and cheese, crybaby cookies, caramel corn, and popcorn cake. Margie also had a special love for singing, and could break into song at any time.
She is survived by her children – Debbie Johnson, Becky (Mike) Kolbus, Laura Kroupa, Darla (Brian) Sharron, Michelle (Todd) Kroupa-Kulik, John (Jill) Kroupa, Mark Kroupa, and Jim (Pam) Lockwood; grandchildren – Michael (Heather), Barry (Jamie), Daniel (Holly), Rebecca, Amy (Robert), Jamie, Melinda (Mike), Melissa (Tom), Maria (Trevor), Angela (Jeremy), Jesse (Patricia), Sabrina (Cody), Heidi, Ashley (Josh), Mikey, Jimmy (Ashley), Andrea (Andy), Nicole (Casandra), Christine, Nicholas, Benjamen, Joshua, Isabelle Rose, Wyatt, Christopher, "The Littles", Scott, Johnny Ray, Hannah, Heather (Bill), Tommy, and Marcus (Tiffany); great-grandchildren – Brandon, Carissa (Tyler), Remi, Winter, Nasheena, Echo, Michael, Andrew, Nicolas, Robert, Matthew, Alex, Trevor, Valerie, Devon, Maddison, Trey, Travis, Aiden, Johnny, Mathew, Jason, Thomas, Savannah, Ozzy, Chayton, Jace, Hailey, Kaisley, Payton, Reece, Olivia, Ava, Arya, Henry, Grayson, Tyler, Nathaniel, Alaynah, Amelia Jo, Ryder, Aubriana, Lain, Deagan, Jacelyn, and three more on the way; great-great-grandson – Scottie, with two more on the way; sister-in-law – Mary Bonevelle-Primiano, numerous nieces and nephews; and her Fat Cat. She was preceded in death by her parents – Roy and Della; Husband – Darwin; daughter – Brenda Kroupa; son-in-law – Robert Johnson, grandson – Jason Darwin Hyde; granddaughter – Lilly Kulik; siblings – Audrey (William) Beauchaine, Clayton (Ethel), Ronald, Wally, and Gerald Bonevelle.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising with a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Father Chris Gardiner will celebrate Margie’s Funeral Mass at St. Therese Mission in AuTrain at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 21. Interment will follow at Serenity Pines Cemetery in AuTrain.
