Munising Marvin Lee Dull, age 85, of Munising, died early Saturday evening, October 22, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Marcola, Oregon on April 5, 1926 to the late Joy W. and Wilma (Watters) Dull. Marvin was raised in Troy, Illinois and graduated from high school there. He attended Blackburn College where he met Rita A. Farr. They were married on August 26, 1951. In 1954, after graduating with his degree in Chemistry, Marvin and Rita brought their young family to Munising when he went to work for Kimberly Clark as a Raw Materials Chemist. He was promoted throughout the years to Project Chemist and Materials Analyst, Research Scientist, Senior Research Scientist then Senior Product Specialist which was the job he held upon his retirement on January 1, 1987. He was an early member of the former Thunderbird Archery Club and thru the '60s and '70s helped many young archers get started. He greatly enjoyed nature and the outdoors, spending time with family and friends bow hunting, fishing, and picking mushrooms. He loved being a grandfather and always made his grandchildren feel special by truly enjoying them and playing with them. Always generous with his resources, Marvin's greatest gifts were his time and heartfelt efforts given those desiring to learn what the Bible really teaches. Since 1974 he served with the Munising Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He viewed the congregation to be his extended family and loved spending time working with these 'spiritual brothers and sisters'. During the past 37 years, many persons both inside and outside the local congregation have been encouraged and comforted by his faithful example and the Bible truths he shared. Marvin is survived by his wife of over sixty years - Rita Dull of Munising; three children - Kenner (Sandra) Dull of Appleton, WI, Karen Mulye of Munising and Brian (Lisa) Dull of Munising; seven grandchildren - Heather (Andy) Hartwig, Sarah (Todd) Tomalak, Adriana (James) Davis, Deanna, Andrew and Taylor Mulye and Maria (Dull) Knuttila; four great-grandchildren - Avery, Nolan, Isaac and Ella; and nieces and nephews - Belinda, Kent, Kevin, Michelle and Julie. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Melvin and Maurice Dull and sister Joyce Templeton. Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Kingdom Hall at N-6888 Connors Road in Munising. A visitation will held at the Kingdom Hall between 3:00 and 4:00.
