Neil "Marvin" Rukkila, age 82, of Eben, died on Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Munising Memorial Hospital in Munising. He had been a resident of Tendercare the last four years. Marvin was born on April 8, 1927 in Rock, Michigan to the late Hugo and Jennie (Norlund) Rukkila. Most of his life was spent in Eben at the farm. He loved animals, farm life, and family gatherings during the summer and holidays. His special cousin Shirley was with him every week and he loved the company at Tendercare.
Marvin is survived by his brother and sister-in-law - Leonard and Marci Rukkila of Negaunee; nieces and nephews - Tina (Dan) Hendrickson, Shelley Ann (Paul) Koski, and Bruce (Pat), Rod (Dawn), and Dave (Pat) Rukkila; and several cousins and special friends.
Marvin's services will be held at the Sion Lutheran Church in Chatham on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Pastor Paul Kelto will conduct Marvin's funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in the spring.
