Shingleton
Mary Jo Blank, age 97, of Shingleton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon, January 8, 2013 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising where she had been a resident for the past ten years. Mary Jo was born on August 21, 1915 in Gateston, Michigan to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Mary (Hammerbauer) Dolaskie. They moved to the U.P. early in her childhood living in several logging camps before settling in Shingleton, Michigan. Mary Jo attended Northern Michigan University where she received a license in nursing. She worked for nine years as a nurse in the psychiatric ward at the Newberry Nursing Home, six years at a charge nurse at Superior Health Haven, and six years for AMCAB traveling to several towns taking blood pressure for senior citizens before her retirement.
Mary Jo is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law - Richard and Lois Blank of Birnamwood, WI and Fred and Lynn Blank of Shingleton, MI; daughter - Dedra Balckwelder of Florida; son-in-law - Don Monette of Williamston, MI; sister - Anne Graves of Munising, MI; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Pat Monette, sisters Helen (Herman) Monroe and Dorothy (William) Henriksen, brother Paul (Audrey) Dolaskie, and brother-in-law - Rich Graves.
No public services will be held at this time and interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
