Mary E. (nee Kolbus) Blondeau, age 93, of Munising, died on Saturday morning, January 15, 2011 at Munising Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 9, 1917 in Munising to Joseph and Apoline (Galus) Kolbusz. Mary graduated from Sacred Heart School and attended Wm. G. Mather High School. On July 3, 1941, she married Joseph Blondeau. They were married over thirty-five years when Joe preceded her in death on May 8, 1977. Mary went to work at Kimberly Clark in the Finishing Room on September 16, 1952. She worked as a sealer, labeler, utility helper and finishing helper. She retired as the Finishing Room sorter on January 1, 1980 with over twenty-seven years of service. Mary was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Polish American Society. She enjoyed family gatherings, reading, flower gardening and making sure her yard looked nice.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters - Ann Wise of Escanaba, Julia (Steve) Stevenson of Christmas, Joseph Kolbus of Munising, Cecilia "CeCe" Walkiewicz of Chesterfield, Stella Graves of Munising and Walter (Katherine) Kolbus of Munising; thirty-five nieces and nephews - Ruth, George Jr., Barbara, John, Jean, Patrick, Michael, Mary, Anne, Joe, Paul, Michael Sr., Kerry, Fred, Sandra, Joe, John, Ed, Tom, Paula, Karl, Mary Ann, Kim, Robin, Melinda, Kevin, Karen, Christy, John, Robert, Connie, Clifford, Kathy, Betty and Anita; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, siblings John Kolbus, Sr., Rose Poppa and Stanley Kolbus, nephews Larry Wise and Steve Graves, and great-nephew Michael Kolbus, Jr.

Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00. A Parish Vigil Service and time of sharing memories and stories will be at 7:00 p.m. Father Chris Gardiner will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette in the spring.
