Mary L. Butsic, age 84, of Prospect Street, died early Thursday morning, April 5, 2007 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born in Negaunee to the late Edward and Anna (nee Ribardy) Choquette, on October 8, 1922. Mary was a 1940 graduate of St. Paul High School. After graduation Mary moved to Munising and began working at Walgreen's. She married Antone "Tony" Butsic April 7, 1945 and together they raised six children. They were married for over forty-five years when he preceded her in death on June 19, 1990. Mary had begun employment with Kimberly Clark on February 11, 1963 as a lab helper in the R & D Dept. She then was promoted to the Administration Department a typist/clerk, office receptionist, and then personnel clerk which was the job she held at the time of her retirement on April 7, 1983 after twenty years of service. Mary was an active member of Sacred Heart Church, the church choir St. Anthony's Guild, St. Bridget's Circle, and the National Catholic Society of Foresters. She loved bowling tournaments in Las Vegas and Hawaii, knitting, sewing, playing cards, and sing-alongs.
Mary is survived by her children - Bob (Judy) Butsic of San Francisco, CA, Connie (Dale) Charboneau of Munising, Jim (Colleen) Butsic of Iron River, MI, Andrea (Reg) Boucher of Van Meer, Sue (Bill) Ombrello of Marquette; son-in-law - Arthur Caprioli of Milwaukee; grandchildren - Teresa Benam, Terry Boucher, Tom and Mark Charboneau, Nicole Pollock, John and Joe Butsic, Amy Rabideau, Dan Caprioli, and Gina and Joe Ombrello; great-grandchildren - Ashley, Jamie, Jason, Nikki, Diana, Sara, Mikaela, Kyle, Joshua, Hannah, and Alessa Therese; brother - Edward (Bev) Choquette of Chicago; sister - Rita Walker of Indianapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tony, daughter Therese Caprioli, and sisters Agnes Yax, Helen Lashway, and Therese Treloar.
Mary's visitation will be Monday, April 9, 2007 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. the National Catholic Society of Foresters will lead the Rosary at 5:00 p.m., with a Parish Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Mary's Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, at the Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
