Traunik
Mary Isabella "Peggy" Taskey, age 95, of E1888 H-44, Traunik, died under the loving care of her family and North Woods Hospice on Sunday afternoon, December 20, 2009 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Chatham. She was born on September 5, 1914 in Hallock, Michigan to Theodore and Mattie (Buckler) Broskey. Mary's mother died when she was young, and she was raised by her father and attended school in Hallock. Mary married Raymond Taskey, Sr and they moved to Detroit during WWII. She and Raymond moved north, and Mary was a cook in the logging camp. She attended the Crest Beauty School in Marquette and became a beautician. Mary then worked at the K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in food services. She was also a homemaker she and Raymond enjoyed wintering in Florida. Raymond preceded her in death on July 11, 1981. Mary was an excellent cook and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great-granchildren.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law - Dick and Judy Taskey of Grand Rapids, Tom and Elaine Taskey of Chatham, and Rosalee Taskey of Traunik; grandchildren - Dick (Kathy) Taskey, Clayton (Samantha) Taskey, Justin (Kurston) Taskey, Heather (Pat) Beckwith, Vanessa (Tom) Curry, Steven (Kristi) Taskey, Michael (Marci) Taskey, Kelly (Matt) Maki, and Kevin (Laura) Taskey; great grandchildren - Nathan (Crystal), Joshua (Heather), Amber, Gabriel, Stephanie, Alyssa, Leah (Kim), Dena, Matt, Laurin, Amanda, Raymond Joseph, Kevin, Nicole, and Lane; great-great grandchildren - Mia, Alex, Jamie, Hailey, Joey, Jakob, and Travis. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Raymond Taskey, Jr. on August 20, 1993, and two sisters Margaret Turner and Bertha Warner.
No public services are scheduled at this time. Interment will be at Park Cemetery in Marquette. Mary's family would like to express their gratitude to all of the North Woods Hospice aides and nurses for the wonderful care given to Mary. Memorials in memory of Mary may be directed to North Woods Hospice of Alger County.
