Mary Anne Bovan, age 92, of Munising, died Sunday morning, September 9, 2018 under the loving care of her family and hospice at the South Lyon Senior Care and Rehab Center in South Lyon, Michigan.   She was born on April 5, 1926 in Greenville, Maine to Alfred and Lurline (Tremblay) Boucher.  Mary Anne married William “Bill” Leslie Bovan on July 2, 1946 and together they raised their six children.  After they were married, they moved to the Detroit area and Mary Anne was a member of St. Alphonsus Parish in Dearborn.  She was a homemaker and also worked at Sears in the Livonia Mall from 1968 until 1974.  Mary Anne then worked in the pharmacy at K-Mart until she retired in 1980.  After retirement, she and Bill moved to Munising and became members of Sacred Heart Church where Mary Anne was a faithful member and belonged to a Circle and the funeral luncheon committee.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose.  She earned Star Recorder for the Women of the Moose and she served as a guide and prelet for them.  Mary Anne was also a member of the Indian Band of AuTrain.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, making plastic canvas Christmas ornaments, playing euchre and bingo, taking trips to the casino, and spending time with her family.

Mary Anne is survived by six children – Michael (Anita) Bovan of Raleigh, NC, Patty (Howard) Bosley of Wetmore, MI, Denise (Jim) Naif of South Lyon, MI, Pamela “Pixie” Stevens of Westland, MI, Carol (Ken) Richmond of Brighton, MI, and Rene Gower of Royal Oak, MI; eleven grandchildren – Michael, Carla, Billy, Shelley, Jimmy, Tina, Stacy, Gary, Matthew, Kenny, and Jamie; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister – Frances Mitchell of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her; husband -  William L. Bovan; mother and father – Lurline and Alfred Boucher; brothers – Clifford, Paul, and Larry Boucher; sons-in-law – Paul “Ponch” Seglund and Gary Stevens; grandsons – Corey Michael Gower and Curtis Matthew Richmond; grandson-in-law - Joe Asbury; and good friend – Al Wagner.

Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.  A Legion Auxiliary service will begin the public visitation at 5:00 p.m.   A recitation of the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.   Mary Anne’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner at Sacred Heart Church in Munising on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.   Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising where Mary Anne will be escorted by her grandchildren – Shelley, Jimmy, Carla, Billy, Stacy, Gary, Jamie, and Kenny.
