In memory of Maxine "Mickey" Howell, goodbye to all of my friends, family, and the U.P. Mickey died Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on September 2, 1923 in Detroit to the late Joseph and Victoria (Bruno) LeMire. During WWII Mickey worked in an airplane factory as one of the iconic "Rosie the Riveters." When she moved to the U.P., she found a place that she loved and knew this was home. Mickey enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. More recently she was mostly known as being Mrs. Clause of Christmas and the oldest Blackjack dealer at the Kewadin Casino.
Mickey is survived by her nieces and nephew - Marilyn (Tom) Ligorotis of Sterling Heights, MI, Alan (Diane) Tardiff of Sterling Heights, and Yvonne (Bob) Rapp of Harrison Township, MI; great-niece - Lauri; and great-great-nieces - Jennifer and Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband David "Bus" Howell.
Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
