Michael Philip McAfee, age 57, of N5180 Samuelson Road, Chatham, died following a lengthy illness at 2:10 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010. He was under the loving care of his wife, son and North Woods. Mike was born on October 5, 1953 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Bert Philip and Anna (nee Dewind) McAfee. He attended Orchard View School. Mike went to Florida where he met and married his wife Alyce (nee Sisk) in Tampa on August 2, 1974. Together they moved to Muskegon. They were blessed with a son, Philip Marlow McAfee on October 16, 1983. Mike and Alyce owned and operated the Travel Agency "Destination Station." He handled all of the Marketing Department and had a special skill for coming up with programs to benefit the community and their customers alike. Mike came up with programs in the 1980's for their business that major corporations began using in the 1990's and the new millennium. Mike was ahead of his time to say the least. They moved to the Upper Peninsula in 1990 and he was a member of the Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Eben. As a family they spent time camping, fishing, taking rides and enjoying the outdoors. Besides his family, Mike lived to fish and be outdoors. He always enjoyed the family pet dogs over the course of his life. To know Mike was to love him.
He is survived by his wife of over thirty-six - Alyce of Chatham; their son - Phil McAfee of Spread Eagle; brothers and sister - Kevin (Carol) McAfee of Twin Lake, MI, Kathleen McAfee of Grand Rapids, MI and Brian (Chirdnopha) McAfee of Muskegon, MI; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Anna and by his parents-in-law Fred and Suzie Sisk.
