Michele Ann (Manolakis) Hayward

Michele Ann Hayward, age 60, of Mackinaw City and formerly of Munising, died on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Medilodge of Sault Ste. Marie following a lengthy illness.  She was born on October 9, 1962 in Kincheloe, Michigan to the late James and Iris (McClellan) Manolakis.  Michele grew up in Seney and then attended Northern Michigan University.   She managed the Shell station in Munising for over twenty years and she also managed both Krist stations.  Michele loved to crochet and enjoyed taking trips to the casino.  Maddie became her priority when she became her Grammie.

Michele is survived by her children – Nathan (Kayla Burns) Hawyard of the Grand Rapids area and Angela (Cody Bridges) Hayward of Manistique; longtime mother figure to Hope LaRose; grandchildren – Maddie, Sawyer and soon to be another grandson; stepmom – Joan Manolakis; stepsister – Boyann (Alfred) Bonjean of Crown Point, IN; and numerous aunts and uncles.  She was preceded in death by her father James Manolakis, Sr, her mother Iris (Roger) Gager, and brother James Manolakis, Jr.
