Mildred Ann Hegedus, age 76, of Round Lake, left us to enter eternal life with our Lord Sunday night, February 3, 2008, at home in the comforting care of her family and the caregivers of Marquette General Home Health and Hospice, after her six year battle with cancer. Born October 22, 1931 in Detroit, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Clara (Reamer) Moss. Millie attended Dominican High School of Detroit and was a 1949 graduate. She worked at community news in Detroit before marrying Albert Hegedus on June 9, 1951 at St. Raymond's in Detroit. Mildred had a deep love of the outdoors and the water, which was the main reason she and Albert retired up in the UP, and built their home on Round Lake. She enjoyed gardening and was very talented with artistic painting, sewing, and crocheting; we all have something she made for us that we will cherish forever. Her mission in life was to be a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, and friend which she accomplished. She was very unselfish, always looking out for everybody else. We all will treasure the little things she has done for us and all the prayers and masses she offered up for us. Thank you Mom.
Mildred is survived by her husband of fifty-six and a half years Albert; three sons - Bill of Brighton, MI, Bob (Kendra) of Davisburg, MI, and Ray Hegedus of Brighton; two daughters - Judy (John) Katona of Negaunee and Terri (Bob) Dallos of Canton, MI; twenty-two grandchildren - Rich (Aimee), Rob (Mary), Chris (Kara), Jon Paul, Dustin, Ryan, Jennette, Andrea, Anthony, Alex, Andrew, and Therese Katona, Michael, Scott, and Charlene Dallos, Ara (Matthew), Heidi, and Jonathon Hegedus, and Elizabeth (Spencer), Shane, Chanel, and Kayla Hegedus; two great-grandchildren - Logan and Trent Katona; brothers - Jimmy (Peggy) Moss and Harold (Patricia) Moss; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Clara, and sister Betty (Art) Mostek.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 7, 2008 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a Parish Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. and Rosary at 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner at Sacred Heart Church in Munising on Friday, at 12:10 p.m.
