Munising
Millicent “Millie” Dunn, age 88, of Munising, died at the Munising Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 10, 2019. She was born on March 1, 1931 in Marquette, Michigan to the late Charles and Greta (Masters) Trombley. The family moved to Munising when Millie was two and she grew up in town. Millie attended Wm. G. Mather High School and worked at the Munising Café and Mary’s Grill. She married Edward Paul Dunn on April 22, 1950 and moved to the Ishpeming area while raising their family. Edward was tragically killed in a mining accident on June 28, 1968. Millie continued to work hard throughout her life. She cooked at the Venice Supper Club and Rolly’s Restaurant while working at Morgan Heights as a nurse’s aide. Millie then went to work at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility and after a few years there, she began working as a physical therapy assistant. During that time, Millie moved from Ishpeming to Negaunee. In 1992, Millie retired and moved back to Munising to help take care of her mother. She also cooked at Sydney’s during her retirement. Millie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Munising and she enjoyed bowling, playing card and Bingo, shooting pool, and caring for others.
Millie is survived by her daughter – Emilie (Tom) Brown of Negaunee; stepson – Charles “Sonny” Paul (Judy) Dunn of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren – Wendi, Valeri, Bill, Sabrina, Shyann, Mary Lou, Edward O’Brien, Rosanna, Kathy, and Terri; numerous great-grandchildren including Kalli, Abbi, Lily, Dylan, Sophie, and Savana; brother – Loyst Trombley (Patty); sister – Cora Karrick; brother-in-law Jimmy Bardo; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed, grandson Timothy Dunn; sisters - Edith (Everett) Braatz, Muriel (Jack) Binns, Charleen “Kay” Bardo , and Carol (Tony) Bejarano; brother – Jerry Trombley in-laws – Bill Karrick and Nancy Trombley; niece - Doris Ann Hernandez; and nephew – Billy Karrick.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Munising on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Visiting time with family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Pastor Jim Rodgers will conduct Millie’s memorial service at 2:00 p.m. With a luncheon to follow.
