Munising
Monica "Moe-Moe" K. Mattson, age 42, of Munising, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, October 15, 2015. She was born in Boulder City, Nevada on June 6, 1973. Monica lived in many places across the United States, but after a visit to the Upper Peninsula she was sure this is where she wanted to make her home, moving here permanently in 2007. Monica was a talented and crafty person who enjoyed arts and crafts and doing friends hair and nails. She also was a wonderful gardener and enjoyed picking berries and making jam. Monica loved life and spending time in the great outdoors. She also loved spending time with her daughter Jessica, sharing her love for gardening, drawing, and watching all kinds of movies, from children movies to horror films.
Monica is survived by her daughter - Jessica Mattson of Munising; sons - Roy Sipes of San Antonio, Texas, and Anthony Sipes of Las Vegas, NV; boyfriend - Dee Phillips of Munising; parents - Gary and Diane Gallegos of Henderson, NV; sisters - Mary and Mandy Gallegos both of Henderson, and Regina Bibiano of Henderson; uncle - Don Gallegos of Flagstaff, AZ, and numerous other aunts, uncles, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents - Susie Valdez, Ruby and Earl Turner, and Norma and Bob McKinley; and aunt - Lisa Gallegos.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday October 25, 2015 at the Township Hall in Shingleton at 12:30 p.m. Pastor George Dwelley will conduct a short prayer service with a time for sharing stories and remembrances.
