Van Meer
Nancy Lee Paradis, age 72, of Van Meer, died on Friday morning, September 15, 2017 at the Cornerstone Hospice Facility in Orlando, Florida following a two-year battle with squamous cell carcinoma. She was born on September 10, 1945 in Portland, Maine to Alcide and Stella (Theriault) Levesque. Nancy grew up in Portland and attended school there before her family moved to Ashland where she went to high school. She married Llewellyn A. Paradis of Portage, ME on April 20, 1963 and together raised their three sons, Michael, David, and Jody. Nancy worked at a newspaper shop in Presque Isle, ME. In 1975, the family moved to the Upper Peninsula for Lew’s work and they made Van Meer their home. Nancy was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church. She was a homemaker to her family and also worked for many years at Denman’s Department Store. She enjoyed ceramics, playing cards, golfing, camping, snowmobiling, and traveling. After retirement, they enjoyed spending their winters in Clermont, Florida where they attended Blessed Sacrament Church. Nancy also volunteered for the Mike Conley Hospice House, in fund raising efforts at Clerbrook R.V. Park in Clermont, FL. Nancy and Lew enjoyed spending time together and she cherished time with her grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her husband and best friend of over fifty-four years – Lew of Van Meer; their sons and daughter-in-law – Michael Paradis of Marquette, MI, David Paradis of Pickford, MI and Jody (daughter-in-law - Rachel) Paradis of Clarkston, MI; grandchildren – Michael (Melissa) Legrand, Chelsy (Paradis) Delongchamp and Kimber Paradis, and Camden and Keaton Paradis; one-great granddaughter – Kimberly Legrand; sisters – Edna (Clarence) Moro and Evelyn Salamone; brother – Bobby (Joyce) Levesque; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law – Jeanette Levesque, Debbie Paradis Michaud, Donald (Barbara Jean) Paradis, Jeanne (Bobby) St. Peter, Helen (Pat) Rice, Ann (Gary) Fisher, Kay (Tom) Eaton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings - Regina (Delphis) Ouellette, Harold (Kitty) Levesque, Rose (Horace) Neptune, Alice (Harold) Drouien, Irene (Gerald) Goslin, Freddy Levesque, Jeanette (Milton) Gagnon, and Laura (Harold) Gerrish, and brother-in-law Peter Paradis.
Father Chris Gardiner will celebrate Nancy’s Memorial Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Munising, MI on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 12:10 p.m. There will be a potluck fellowship at the Knight of Columbus Hall following the mass. Nancy will be buried at St. Mark Cemetery in Ashland, Maine.
