Nancy Jean Powell, age 58, of Munising, died on Tuesday morning, February 8, 2011 in the I.C.U. of Marquette General Hospital. She was born on September 3, 1952 in Munising to the late Charlie and Betty (Smith) Hancock. Nancy was raised in Wetmore and attended Wm. G. Mather High School. She married William "Bill" Powell in 1970 and they raised their daughter. Their family moved all around the South until they moved back to the Munising area in 1986. Nancy was a homemaker and had worked at Denman's Hardware. Prior to a stroke in 2003, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, walking and being outdoors. Nancy loved to be with her grandchildren.
She is survived her daughter and son-in-law - Christy and Erik Elore of Munising; grandchildren - Ciera Bradley, Blaine Bradley and Garret Elore; brothers Robert and Norman (Theresa) Hancock of Wetmore; sisters - Tina Hancock of Wetmore and Sheena Nesberg of Munising. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Gavin Lee Elore in 2003, brothers William Hancock and Charles Hancock, Jr. and a sister Christina Hancock.
Per her wishes, no services will be held at this time and in the summer, Nancy will be placed where pretty things grow.
