Nancy Jean (nee Sukowatey) Rumohr (formerly Hondel), age 62, of Munising, Michigan and Milwaukee, Wisconsin native, left her earthly body to return home on Friday, August 3, 2012. She was born on December 29, 1949 in Milwaukee to the late Gilbert and Virginia (nee Gallagher) Sukowatey. Living the majority of her life in Milwaukee, Nancy moved to Munising with her longtime love, Jack Rumohr, in 2000 to help care for his parents. Nancy worked many years as a drug and alcohol counselor, helping many people through their struggle with addictions. She had a gift of creating unique jewelry as she often expressed herself creatively and artistically. She transformed a black and white life to color with her fun and energetic spirit. Nancy gave of herself unselfishly to help anyone who was struggling in life, both personally and professionally. Although her life offered many challenges, she never gave up; instead she focused on bringing light, color, and happiness to other people's lives. The only thing that mattered to her was to love and to be loved by her family and friends. One of her most cherished qualities was that she was able to offer unconditional acceptance by standing by her loved one's sidesa"no matter what. She truly mastered unconditional love and acceptance on her journey in this world. She would have done ANYTHING to take on her loved ones pain and struggles for them, but made sure they knew she was there for them and walking through with them. She was a very insightful and spiritual person, teaching her children, grandchildren, friends, and anyone else that she could, how to focus on their spirit to find comfort in their lives. She was clearly on a constant quest to understand spirit and the afterlife, always appearing to know that there was a place full of color and void of pain that she always wanted to get back to. She was goofy, funny, and enjoyable to be around, always filling people's lives with laughter and fun. She never concerned herself with caring what other people thought of her, which made hanging out with her a blast! Nancy could never be summarized into a few words, but here are several that could begin to describe her: accepting, loving, fun, interesting, silly, understanding, caring, creative, thoughtful, original, beautiful, abstract, spontaneous, strong, stylish, spiritual, inspirational, and motivating. She will be missed intensely by all who loved her.
Nancy is survived by her husband - Jack Rumohr; children - Sheila Anderson (husband Perry), Brad Hondel (wife Kerry), and Crystal Zenecke (husband Wayne); step-sons - Jason Rumohr (wife Nicole), Brock Rumohr (wife Katie); grandchildren - Anthony, Christopher, and Michael Sibila, Aiden and Evan Hondel, Gage and Galen Anderson, and Greydon, Harrison, Mason, Charlie, and Madaline Rumohr; sister - Kathleen Sukowatey; brothers Chris Sukowatey and Jim Sukowatey; and many special nieces and nephews.
