Shingleton
Naoma M. George, age 92, of Shingleton and longtime resident of Wyandotte, died late Sunday evening, November 22, 2009 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on November 29, 1916 in Wyandotte to Arthur and Magdalene (Melody) Thon. Naoma, as well as her husband and three sons, graduated from St. Patrick High School in Wyandotte. She married Edward J. George on October 28, 1941 and they raised their three sons. Ed preceded Naoma in death on October 29, 1975. Naoma worked her whole life. She worked for her mother's nursing home in Wyandotte for many years. She then worked at Ceclia Melody's Women's Clothing shop for many years. She loved working there. Naoma was a lifetime member of St. Patrick's church in Wyandotte. Back in the days, she loved her "club night" of playing pinochle with her friends. In 1999, Naoma moved to the Shingleton area with her son, Gil, and then spent a couple of years at the Health Haven before moving to Tendercare in 2003. While in the U.P., Naoma loved the Commission on Aging outings that she participated in. Naoma enjoyed working and she was a hard worker and a wonderful mother.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law - James (Mary Ellen) George of Salem Township, MI Gilbert (Vicki) George of Shingleton, and Gregory (Jos) George of New Era, MI; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Naoma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, and siblings June, Marilyn, Art, and Harry.
There will be no public services at this time and interment will be at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Brownstown Township.
