Naoma I. Henry, age 81, of Van Meer died unexpectedly at her home following a lengthy illness on Thursday evening, April 6, 2017.   She was born on October 9, 1935 in Mancelona, Michigan to the late Clarence and Addie (Barrow) Bond.  Naoma’s family moved to Van Meer when she was four and she attended school in Shingleton and Munising.  Naoma married Gerald Howard and together they had three children.  She was a waitress and a homemaker.  Naoma went to work in the veneer mill and worked as a grader at Timber Products in 1976.  She retired in the late 1980’s.  On October 19, 1985, she married Larry J. Henry and enjoyed traveling when she was able.  Naoma and Larry attended the Wesleyan Church in Munising.  She was gifted and artistic at crafts, knitting, and crocheting.  Naoma loved shopping, taught herself how to use a computer, and especially enjoyed family gatherings with her grandchildren.

Naoma is survived by her husband of over thirty-one years – Larry Henry of Van Meer; children – Gary (Robin) Howard of Gwinn, Glenda (Bryan) Ely of Van Meer, Christine (Michael) DuCharme of Milwaukee, WI, and Kory (Julie) Henry of Ludington, MI; grandchildren – Heather, Brandon, Bobbie, Rachel, Ashley, and Bradley; great-grandchildren – McKeller, Austin, Jason, and Carley; brother – Keith Bond of Munising; in laws – Donna, Beverly, and Louise Bond, Lee (Eleanor) Henry, Carol Beerman, and David Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.    She was preceded in death by her parents; son - Robert Howard; sister - Audrey Baldwin; brothers – Clarence, Estel, Duane, and Charles Bond; and in-laws – Nancy Bond, Dawn (Richard) Paddock, Lloyd Henry, and Helen Henry.

Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.   Pastor Robin VeltKamp will conduct Naoma’s funeral service in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 12:00 noon.  Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.
