Munising
Nora May Crandall, age 87, of Munising, died on Friday afternoon, February 17, 2012 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on October 18, 1924 in Nirvana, Michigan to the late John and Goldie (David) Avery. Nora worked at Cadillac Parachute Factory during WWII and also at a glove factory in Grand Rapids before moving to the Munising area. Nora had married Lorance Crandall on August 7, 1944 and they together raised their three daughters. They were married over thirty-six years when Lorance preceded her in death on April 30, 1981. Nora had also served as the area's AMCAB representative for eight years and also worked part time at Sears. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Munising Art Club, and T.O.P.S. Nora loved crafts and made homemade Christmas ornaments for her family members each year.
Nora is survived by her daughter and sons-in-law - Karen and Tony Kurth of Munising, Jim Dale of Wetmore, and Randy Woodbury of Sebastopol, CA; grandchildren - Donna Kurth, Dawn (Bill) Schierschmidt, Dale Kurth, Carmen (Ken) Baker, Amy (Alan Graves) Dale, Kelle Conklin, Scott (Kim) Meister, Christina Clark, and Melissa (Michael) Demps; great-grandchildren - Craig, Carri, Cori, Emma, Katy, Becca, Kyle, Peyton, Brady, Ryan, Tanya, Ashley, Brittney, Ian, Leah, Tarren, Eric, Kara, and Tyler; great-great grandchildren - Keean, Sophia, and Bailey; sisters - June O'Neil of Chase, MI and Georgene Lenahan of Paris, MI; brother - John (Connie) Avery of Chase, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lorance, and daughters Sandy Dale and Sharon "Jeni" Clark.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Monday, February 20, 2012. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jim Ramelis of the First Presbyterian Church will conduct Nora's service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
