Norma Jean “Jeannie” Moore, age 91, of Munising, died Monday morning, November 15, 2021 at Medilodge of Munising. She was born in Hancock, Michigan to Roy and Viola (Edwards) Warren. Jeannie’s family moved to Munising when she was twelve. She was a cheerleader and graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1947. Jean married Aldon “Wayne” Moore in 1949 and together raised their three children. Jean worked for UPPCO for twenty-eight years, retiring as the Munising office manager. She then began her passion of working with people and the many tourists at the Dogpatch gift shop. Jeannie was happy to visit with folks and sell many, many t-shirts and sweatshirts. She was always available for a conversation, sharing local advice, and even giving up her car if someone needed it. She worked at the Patch over twenty years. Jeannie was a people’s person who loved to talk, loved to volunteer, had a heart of gold, and was a giving and kind soul. She was an active member of the Eden Lutheran Church, Hospital Auxiliary, Historical Society, Daughters of the Nile, and Order of the Eastern Star.
Jean is survived by her children – Gary (Karen) Moore of Winder, GA, Greg (Betsy) Moore of Marquette, and Deb (David) Fulcher of Munising; grandchildren – Nick (Alisha), Lindsey, Adam (Laura), Christopher (Jennifer), Josh (Stephanie), and Ben (Katie), fifteen great-grandchildren; sister – Marilyn “Pootsie” Mayle; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Viola, husband Wayne, and brother Jim Warren.
Services will be held at Eden Lutheran Church on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Visiting time with family and friends will be from 1:00 until 2:00 and Jeannie’s memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Private graveside services will be held at the Serenity Pines Cemetery in AuTrain.
The family would like to thank the Munising Medilodge crew and the Harbourview Assisted Living staff. The family is grateful and was comfortable with the care of their Mom. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do something kind or volunteer your talents to help someone or someplace to make our community a better place. If one wishes, memorials in Jean’s name are requested to be made to the Eden Lutheran Church or the Alger County Community that Cares.
