Olga A. Boravich, age 90, of Rumely, died Sunday, October 31, 2010, at Marquette General Hospital. She was born on July 26, 1920 in Indiana Harbor, IN to Kiril and Alexandra (Pasinski) Barnackey. Olga graduated from Washington High School in Indiana Harbor with the class of 1938. She married Nicholas T. Boravich, Sr. on January 25, 1941, and together they raised their three children. Olga and Nick moved to their dairy farm in Rumely in 1948. She worked for Montgomery Wards Jewelry Department for fourteen years. Olga loved to cook and also enjoyed knitting and gardening. She organized a ladies group that would meet once a month to play Bunco. Olga was an active member of St. Rita's Church in Trenary, where she sang in the choir.
She is survived by her three children - Nicholas Thomas (Paulette) Boravich of Rumely, Marianne Louise Leppanen of Lake Orion, MI, and George Michael Boravich of Monrovia, CA; two grandchildren - Marnie White and Nathan (Becky) Boravich; and two great-grandchildren - Bradley and Derek. Olga was preceded in death by her parents; husband Nick in September of 1997; and brothers - Steve, George, and Willy Barnackey.
There will be visitation on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Bowerman Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., and also Thursday, November 4 at St. Rita's Church in Trenary form 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Father Jacek Wtyklo beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rita's with a luncheon to follow. Olga's committal service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham. Memorials may be made in Olga's name the to St. Rita's Church in Trenary, or the Alzheimer's Association.
