Munising
Priscilla "Jeanne" Kolsin, age 72, of 211 W. Chocolay Street, Munising, died on Tuesday morning, September 8, 2009 under the loving care of her family and North Woods Hospice. Jeanne was born and raised in Houghton until the age of ten when she moved to Munising with her mother and siblings. She moved to Florida after marrying and they had seven children over the next thirty years. She came back to live in Munising with her husband Manny, where she worked at Putvin's until she retired.
She did all the things expected of a mother; sewed, cook, cleaned, baked, canned, taxi service, etc., but these are all the things that we will remember Jeanne for. She loved to fish, bowl, swim, dance, play bingo, work on crafts, and walks on the beach. She loved to decorate and dress up for every holiday and holiday parties. Christmas was her favorite holiday of all. She collected clocks, Christmas Villages, and Walt Disney movies. Jeanne enjoyed picnics, B-B-Q's with her friends and family. She loved to dress-up and make a day of shopping and eating out. Jeanne was very fortunate to have been able to travel and experience new cultures. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor, even when her children played jokes on her. Jeanne was known by her family for making the best meat loaf and pasties. She loved playing board and card games. Jeanne was a kid at heart. She was known for wearing and collecting many different hats, she was also known for hogging the road on her electric scooter. Jeanne was member of the Lions Club for many years, and an active member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Florida. Jeanne was never afraid to try something new. She made the most out of what God and life handed her. Jeanne will be truly missed by her friends and family.
Jeanne is survived by her husband - Emanuel "Manny" Kolsin; children - David (Mary Beth) Norberg of Eben Junction, Theresa (Dennis) Williams of Chatham, John Norberg of Munising, and Diana Norberg of West Palm Beach, FL; step-daughter - Janice (Tom) Gavin of New Jersey; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister - Janet (Dave) Krueger of Wisconsin; brothers - Ken (Mary Jo) Vadnais of Nevada, and Randy Vadnais of Munising; half sisters - Ruth and Theresa Richard; half brother - Bobby Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews. We do not want Jeanne to be remembered by how she died, but how she lived and loved. We will always remember that Jeanne lived her life her way and we will always love her for that. "Our sister, mother, grandma, great-grandma, friend, and wife has gone home", but we will never forget her. As to Jeanne's wishes there will be no public services.
