Patricia Ann Walther, age 80, of AuTrain, went to join her Lord with her family present on Friday, August 28, 2020 at UPHS Marquette due to a tragic automobile accident. Pat was born one of eight children to Wilbur James Seger and Agnes Marie (Rozek) Seger on February 27, 1940: however, she truly believed she was born on February 29th which was a leap year so she would actually be much younger, only 20 years old. Pat grew up between Flint and Pontiac and attended Clio High School. She met her husband William Gregory Walther for the first time on a blind date for the 1958 Prom. She and Bill were married on June 20, 1959. Together they raised eight perfectly imperfect fun loving crazy wild children, or at least they tried! In 1976, they moved their clan to AuTrain and together as a family constructed their own home. Pat stayed home to raise the clan and helped with the family business, Walther Construction. She also worked for a short time at Munising’s Tendercare as a Nurse’s Aide. Pat belonged to St. Therese in AuTrain where she taught catechism and was a lector. Pat absolutely loved Christmas and collected angels and Santa Clauses. She was often referred as Grandma of Angels. She loved taking trips to the casino, going to and having garage sales, and mowing the lawn with her unpredictable riding lawn mower. She loved watching game shows, Lifetime movies, and Touched by an Angel. She loved to read gossip magazines, Chicken Soup for the Soul books, and countless prayer cards. We are pretty sure she had everyone in Alger County and beyond on her prayer list! She did crossword puzzles daily and even won many contests with her word skills. Date nights with Bill were on Friday’s to the Moose Lodge whom she considered her second family or any day of the week for a “hot date” to Menards (which she hated). She was afflicted with severe arthritis and COPD, but those ailments did not slow her down. If you know Pat, you know she is the most thoughtful, kind, loving, beautiful soul whom always wore gorgeous fancy shirts, dangling earrings and either a Santa Claus or angel pin. She loved all her children fiercely and her grandchildren even more fiercely. Family was everything to her! She would try to go to all her grandkids hockey, football, baseball, volleyball games, and cheer and skating competitions.
Pat is survived by her husband of 61 years, 2 months, and 8 days – Bill Walther of AuTrain; their eight children – Teresa Stearns of Topeka, KS, William “Bill” (Liz) Walther, Jr. of Titusville, FL, David (Kathy) Walther of AuTrain, Mary (Dean) Walther-Johnson of AuTrain, Michelle Reynolds of Appleton, WI, Melissa (Todd) Osmond of Burlington, Ontario, Jennifer (Chris Ohnmeiss) Walther of Marquette, and Dan (Brenda) Walther of Munising; nineteen grandchildren – Kenneth, Hollie, Katrina, Victoria, Olivia, Ryan, Hayden, Madison, Cassandra, Jennifer, Jason, Jordan, Jessica, Hannah, Jasmine, Ethan, Owen, Alexis, and Blake; nine great-grandchildren – Jenna, Ashlyn, Talon, Harper, Haven, Ireland, Lucas, Logan, and Brienna; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Walter Reynolds, and her seven siblings.
