Munising
Patti Ann (Moote) Freeman, age 61, of Munising, died early Tuesday afternoon, September 8, 2015 at U.P. Health System in Marquette. She was born on August 6, 1954 in Munising to Gordon "Curly" and Niama (Baij) Moote. Patti grew up in Munising until 1963 when the family moved to Ishpeming. In 1967, they returned to Munising and Patti graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1972. She attended Northern Michigan University and in 1974 married Dave Wickstrom. Together they raised their daughter, Cyle. Patti waitressed at the Holiday Inn in Marquette until she returned back to school to earn her Laboratory Technician degree from NMU. She worked at Marquette General and then for many years at Munising Memorial Hospital. Patti's patients and co-workers enjoyed having her around them with her smile and laugh. She married Allen G. Freeman on February 2, 2002. Patti enjoyed music, her dog Bing, walks, pontoon trips with Al, spending time on Grand Island and Lake Superior, and cheering on the Detroit Lions. To her nieces and nephews, she was always their favorite "Aunt Pat Pat."
She is survived by her husband - Al Freeman of Munising; her daughter and fiancé Cyle Wickstrom (Greg Muehl) of DePere, WI; stepdaughters - Angela Freeman Riley (Jonathon Glass-Riley) of Lakewood, OH and Kayla (Zak) Goddard of Green Bay, WI; three step- grandchildren - Ella, Wesley, and Audrey; siblings - Michelle "Shelly" Hubert of Marquette, Gordon (Kim) Moote, Jr. of Munising, Dan Moote of Cyprus, TX, and Luann (Dale) Carrier of Marquette; aunts - Kinky Werner and Phyllis Baij; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Patti was preceded in death by her parents Curly and Niama and numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. A fellowship potluck gathering will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Shooter's (410 Mill Street, Munising) following her visitation. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to the Alger County Animal Shelter.
