Patty Marentette

AuTrain Patricia "Patty" Ann (nee Beauchaine) Marentette, age 66, of Alcolu, South Carolina and longtime AuTrain resident, passed away early Friday evening, November 15, 2013 surrounded by family and the care of hospice at the Florence Hospital in Florence, South Carolina following a brief illness. She was born in Munising on August 26, 1947 to the late William "Bill" and Audrey (nee Bonevelle) Beauchaine. Patty grew up in AuTrain where she and her family attended St. Therese Church. She graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School, got married, and began raising her family. Patty was a homemaker and she worked for many years in the Produce Department at Glen's. On August 29, 1989, she married August "Gus" Marentette and they enjoyed spending their time together hunting, fishing, camping and spending their winters in South Carolina where they "boutique shopped" at many "nearly new stores." After Gus passed away on July 17, 2011, Patty moved her permanent residence to South Carolina. She continued to enjoy gardening and nightly cookouts where she cooked for many friends. She is survived by her three children - Pamela (Mike) Hansen of Loveland, CO, Lisa Steinhoff of AuTrain and Duane (Ashlee) Shotwell of Okatie, SC; stepdaughter - Natasha Moore of Ishpeming; thirteen grandchildren - Samantha Rosas, Patty (Scott) Britton, Katie (Justin) Swajanen, Bobby (Rene) Britton, Ben (Karsen) Haapala, Amanda Steinhoff, Christian, Eric, Brandon, and Faith Shotwell, Brittany Moore, and Madison and Braylon Hakkarainen; ten great-grandchildren - Kaylee, Miya, Victor, Alanna, Andrea, Nicholas, Landon, Lucas, Madison, and Keegan brothers and sisters-in-law -Carolyn (Jim) Steinhoff, Diane (John) Maki, Bill (Teresa) Beauchaine, Terry (Margie) Beauchaine, Joe (Karen) Beauchaine, Tommy (Barb) Beauchaine, Randy (Connie) Beauchaine, Cindy (Pete) Selander and Joyce (Preston) Beauchaine; sisters-in-law - Betty Rousseau and Pat Klosowski ; numerous nieces, nephews cousins and good friends in Michigan and South Carolina. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Audrey Beauchaine, and her husband, Gus. Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday, November 22, 2013. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Father Chris Gardiner will conduct Patty's funeral service in the funeral home's chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Serenity Pine Cemetery in AuTrain on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
