Munising
Paul "Pee Wee" Morin, age 89, of Nestor Street, Munising, died on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 5:25 p.m. at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette where he had been a resident for the last 4 ½ years. He was born in Munising on January 29, 1921 to the late Fred and Edith (Benoit) Morin. Pee Wee served in the U.S. Army Air Force from September 23, 1942 until March 16, 1946. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was involved with the Campaign at Central Burma. He earned the Good Conduct, American Theater, and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medals. Pee Wee began his employment at Kimberly Clark on May 27, 1952 in the Beater Room. He worked as a Broke Handler, Beaterman, Oliver Man, Repulper Operater, Repulpler Helper, Beater Furnisher, and at the time of his retirement on January 29, 1983, he was the Assistant Repulper Operator. Pee Wee married Dona D. Doucette on August 1, 1959. They were married over 48 years when Dona preceded him in death on June 12, 2008. Pee Wee enjoyed playing the guitar, whittling, bowling, and watching sports on television.
He is survived by brothers and sisters in law - Clyde "Trap" (Pam) Doucette of East Point, Michigan, Gary (Bev) Doucette of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, and Darryl Doucette of Munising; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Pee Wee was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dona, brothers Harold, Chester, Alcid, Gerald, Chine, and Wilfred Morin, and sisters Janette Robbins, Orvilla Vardon, and Pauline Cornish.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Deacon Tom Moseley will conduct Pee Wee's funeral service in the funeral home's chapel on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising where the Alger County Veterans Council and American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military honors and Deacon Tom Moseley will conduct committal prayers.
