Grand Marais Paul Joseph Perry, age 85, of McMillan Street in Grand Marais, died unexpectedly on Friday morning, February 10, 2012. He was born on May 6, 1926 in Manistique to the late Jacob and Agnes (Weber) Perry. Paul graduated from Manistique High School in 1945 and on October 21, 1946, he married Helen P. Burnis. He briefly worked for Port Inland Steel before beginning employment with the State of Michigan. Paul worked for MDOT for thirty-five years in Testing & Researching and he also plowed out of the State garage in Engadine. He and Helen moved to Grand Marais in 1977. Paul was a member of Holy Rosary Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, picking agates, and smoking his pipe. Paul is survived by his wife of over sixty-five years - Helen Perry of Grand Marais; their three sons - Paul Perry, Jr. of Manistique, Bill (Ginny) Perry of Lino Lake, MN, and Dave (Barb) Perry of Manistique; six grandsons - Steve, Chris, Bill, Bobby, Jeff, and Jeremy; his one and only granddaughter - Carla; eighteen great-grandchildren with three more on the way; uncle - Matt Weber of Manistique; and cousins. ** Please note that the times of Paul's services have been changed. **A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Holy Rosary Church in Grand Marais at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Holy Rosary Cemetery and he will be escorted by his grandsons.
