Wetmore
Paul Herbert Walker, age 70, of N3198 Buckhorn Road, Wetmore, died unexpectedly in an automobile accident the result of a cardiac arrest on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in Wetmore, Michigan. He was born on June 13, 1943 in Crandon, Wisconsin to the late Herbert and May (Besset) Walker. Paul grew up in Crandon and attended Crandon High School. On September 15, 1962 he married Linda Lou Osterhout. Paul worked at the Goodman Veneer Mill. When C.C.I. opened up their veneer mill in Munising, Paul was recruited as one of the top lathe operators in the nation. He and Linda moved their family to Wetmore in 1976. Paul quickly became one of the mill's favorites. He had an amazing way of mentoring and communicating with his crew that allowed them to be top producers. Paul retired as a supervisor from Timber Products. He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, woodworking, camping, and being a mechanic. Paul was a true "jack of all trades."
He is survived by his wife of over fifty-one years - Linda Walker of Wetmore; sons - Paul Walker of Manistique, Jamie Walker of Milwaukee, Corey (Ashley Axelson) Walker of Escanaba, and Damian Walker (great-grandson) of Wetmore who has been adopted by Paul and Linda; son-in-law - John Chagnon of Oscoda, MI; grandchildren - Natasha, Jessica, Miranda, Nathan, Jailyn, Levi, Joseph, Kean, Amanda, Lindy, Samantha, Shawna, Haleigh, Mckenzie, Ella, Jace, Xavier, Dillon, Tabitha, Kimberly, and Brooke; great-grandchildren - Cecilia, Mackenzie, Weston, Arianna, Damian, Shawn, Aiden, Tristan, Brennan, and three more on the way; sister - Patricia Walker of Pickeral, WI; brother - David (Bonnie) Walker of Wisconsin; mother-in-law - Laura Osterhout of Manistique; brother-in-law - Kenneth "Bud" (Dee) Osterhout of Bookelia, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; daughter - Lisa Chagnon on September 22, 2010; son - Cary Walker on November 4, 2012; grandson - Cary Walker, Jr.; and sisters - Kathleen McGeshick and Judy Walker.
Services for Paul will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Visiting time with family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jason LaFlamme will conduct Paul's memorial service in the funeral home's chapel at 1:00 p.m.
