Paula G. Sadak, age 97, of Munising, died with her family at her side on Saturday afternoon, January 2, 2016 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on April 7, 1918 in Wexford County, Michigan to Hervey and Elva (Short) Goodrich. Paula graduated from Mather High School in 1935. She married Stanley Louis Sadak on January 17, 1941 and together raised their sons. Paula worked for the City of Munising, the Health Department, for George Baldwin when he was running for Prosecuting Attorney, and Atlas Plywood. Stanley and Paula were partners with Charlie Symon as owners of the Munising News for many years, retiring in 1977. Paula was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Brownie and Cub Scout Leader for many years. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church, the Alger County Historical Society, and the B.P.W. Paula and Stan enjoyed dancing and taking vacations. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1990. Paula also enjoyed playing cards, watching the Packers, casino trips, and being with her good friends while she lived at the Manor.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law - Mike and Rhonda Sadak and Mark and Mari Jo Sadak, all of Munising; grandsons - Mike (Shelly) Sadak, Marcus (Jenny) Sadak, Kurt Sadak; granddaughters - Raquel (Ted) Soyad and Jessica (Bill) Elliott; great-grandchildren - Liane, Bailey, Logan, Ava, Tucker, and Vincent; sister-in-law - Doris Phillipson Goodrich; numerous nieces and nephews; and former daughter-in-law - Penny Sadak. Paula was preceded in death by her parents Hervey Goodrich and Elva and Jack Gotfredson, husband Stan, and brothers Ellsworth and Cecil Goodrich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Munising. A fellowship gathering and time of visiting with the family will take place in LaMothe Hall following the Mass. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 2:30 p.m.
Paula's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Tendercare for the great care she received.
Memorials are requested to be made to the Alger County Animal Shelter in her name.
