Munising
Peter J. Heyrman, Sr., age 75, of Munising, died Friday, April 4, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a brief battle with prostate cancer. He was born on July 11, 1949 with his twin sister Patricia on their family farm on Indiantown Road. Pete went to school at Wm. G. Mather High School. He went to work for Cleveland Cliffs working on the tugboat while CCI was logging Grand Island. Pete went back to school and graduated with the class of 1970. He married his high school sweetheart Judith L. DesArmo on July 17, 1971. Pete started working for the road commission where he was a plow truck operator and later became a foreman, but his favorite job was driving the grader. He retired in 2009 after 38 years of service to the county. Recently, Pete was elected to the Alger County Road Commission the seat he held until his time of death. He loved spending time in the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and rides to Camp Dudley with his co-pilot Moxie while listening to Elmer on the radio. Pete loved to tell stories and was quite the jokester. Even though he liked to poke fun and mess with you, he was a kind, loving, and devoted husband, father, and friend to many.
Pete is survived by he wife of 53 years – Judy Heyrman of Munising; son – Brad (Jessica) Heyrman of Sault Ste. Marie and Michelle (Donnie St. John) Heyrman of Manistique; grandkids – Nathan and Natalie Heyrman; siblings – Larry (April) Heyrman, Eddie (Barb “Bunny”) Heyrman, Patricia (Clifford) McNally, Dorothy (Lloyd) Hannah, Paul (Cheryl) Heyrman, and Mary Alice (Mark) Cabanaw; and numerous nieces and nephews.
