Philip George Fedoruk

January 2, 1931 — April 30, 2022

Munising

Philip George Fedoruk, age 91, of Munising, died on Saturday afternoon, April 30, 2022 at Munising Memorial Hospital.  Phil was born on January 2, 1931 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, son of Nicholas and Sadie (Witkoski) Fedoruk.  He grew up in Marquette and went to work for Red Owl.  It was at Red Owl where he met his beautiful love, Fay Smith.  They were married on June 22, 1957.  Together they began raising their family and Phil’s job moved the family to Munising.  Together they purchased Hiawatha TV and then ran Fay’s Boutique.  Phil continued to work at Red Owl as the produce manager and retired from there.  He was very active in the Munising community and served as the city’s mayor, he managed the ice arena when it opened, and he was a member of the American Legion and the Legion Honor Guard.  Phil served our country for twenty-one years in the National Guard.  He was a faithful and active member of the Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Church where he served as usher with his son and daughter for many years.  In his retirement, he really enjoyed working at the Pictured Rocks Cruises.  Like Fay, Phil loved his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all family gatherings.  They enjoyed being outside on their back deck and he and Fay spent many hours sitting on the front porch people watching and visiting with friends as they strolled by their home.  They enjoyed snowmobiling together, taking rides around town, and spoiling every dog they ever owned.  Phil was a talented woodworker and spent many hours out in his workshop in the garage.  He also collected coins and model cars.  Phil enjoyed working word search puzzles and was an avid reader.  He was was probably the Munising Public Library’s biggest fan.  He also loved getting hugs and kisses from family and friends.  Phil’s heart was broken when his beloved Fay died on March 17, 2022 after almost sixty-five years of marriage.

He is survived by their children – Phil (Taty) Fedoruk of Summerville, SC, Michelle Fedoruk of Mobile, AL, and Patty Fedoruk of Munising; son-in-law – Jim Tyner of Wetmore; daughter-in-law – Deb Brown of Menominee, MI; grandchildren – Brad, Derick, Amanda, Nichole, Jessica “Faye”, Deanna, Aimee, and Nick; great grandchildren – Casey, Javanti, Ava, Lily, Henry, Ariya, Kaleb, Auna, Tye, Tristen, Trent, Tevin, CJ and Peyton.  Phil was preceded in death by his parents, wife Fay, daughter Terri Lynn Tyner; son Richard Brown, and sister Gertie Aho.
