AuTrain
Phyllis Jean Eiseman, age 78, of AuTrain, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Munising Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 21, 1932 to Edward and Lucille (Pepin) Gauthier. Phyllis graduated from Wm. G. Mather High School in 1950. She married Robert Joseph Eiseman on April 24, 1954. Phyllis and Bob worked side by side each other for over thirty-eight years at "Bob's Grocery" in AuTrain. They were married over fifty-three years when Bob preceded her in death on January 15, 2008. She was a faithful member of St. Therese and was a member of the Altar Society. Phyllis was known as the "candy lady" because she would give candy to the children at church, much to Father's and the children's parents dismay when she would give it to them before church. She knitted hundreds of pairs of slippers, enjoyed baking bread, playing BINGO, going to the casino, getting her hair done at Angie's every Friday, and could sell any raffle ticket there was. Phyllis loved her yearly shopping trips with her sisters, berry picking, snowmobiling, and red lipstick. She taught all of her children and grandchildren how to play cards and how she also taught them how to be a good loser. Phyllis was a one of a kind social butterfly and had the gift of gab.
She is survived her children - Mike (Patty Ann) Eiseman of Munising; Patty Ann (Bryan) Nikunen of AuTrain, Rick Eiseman of AuTrain, Thomas (Charlotte) Eiseman of AuTrain, Daniel Eiseman of Fairview Heights, IL, Jim (Carol) Eiseman of AuTrain, and Lou Eiseman of AuTrain; 16 grandchildren - Allison, Robert Jr., Daren, Jamie, Michael, Paul, Melissa, Jody, Miranda, Mirissa, Amanda, Veronika, Zach, Robert, Isaac and Jim-Bob; three great-grandchildren; brother - Robert (Sue) Gauthier; sisters - Betty Stock, Charla Younk, Zella (Ron) Greb, and Joan (James) Anderson; sister-in-law - Betty Card; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, daughter Joanne in 1979, son Robert "Bobbo" in 2005 and brothers Francis, Donald, Harold, Daniel, and Leland Gauthier.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Sacred Heart Church in Munising at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Serenity Pines Cemetery in AuTrain. A luncheon and time of visiting with family and friends will follow the burial at St. Therese Church in AuTrain.
