Ragnor J. Seglund

November 1, 1929 — February 17, 2011

Ragnor J. Seglund, PhD., born in Munising November 1, 1929, Ragnor, 81, passed away peacefully at home with family on February 17, 2011 after a courageous battle with Leukemia. He is missed by beloved Diana of 20 years, six children: Patti, John, Paul, Cecilia, Julia and Amy, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren from Texas, Colorado, Oregon and his older brother James Seglund of Mississippi. Ragnor shared his educational PhD knowledge as a professor of Accounting at CSUS for 20 years and taught at other Universities in Texas, Arizona, Finland and Australia. In 1971, he achieved his PhD at the University of Colorado. When Ragnor accomplished his graduate degree in 1957 at the University of Michigan, he lived in Turkey and New York City with his young family while employed with Standard Oil / Exxon before continuing on with his PhD. We will miss his curious mind and adventurous spirit. During retirement, Ragnor loved the outdoors as a tennis player, spent time with his dog Sonny, pursued his passion for world travel and enjoyed discussing world affairs. He was a strong, stubborn and detrmined man who was a fighter and embraced life to the fullest. We will miss his positive, cheerful nature, but we know he is free and in the presence of the Lord.
A graveside service for Ragnor will be conducted by Pastor Elisabeth Zant on Monday, August 22, 2011, at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising at 11:00 a.m.
