Raymond Joseph Hegedus

August 21, 1965 — February 15, 2016

Raymond Hegedus, age 50, resident of the Upper Peninsula for the past eight years who was a beloved son, brother, and uncle passed away suddenly on Monday, February 15, 2016 at his town house in Gladstone.  Ray was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on August 21st 1965.  He graduated from John Glen High School in Wayne Michigan and he worked for over 25 years at Kroger/Foodland as a high low operator. Despite many years of failing health, Ray always kept his faith in God, and his youthful optimism, his infectious smile and laugh could melt even the most stubborn dispositions. Ray was a true gentle giant, with a kind and gentle heart that finally just gave out.  He will be missed by all who knew him. He was an avid outdoors man, fisherman and sports fan who followed the Detroit sports teams, and especially the University of Michigan. He loved good food of all kinds. Preparing food and listening to many different genres of good music was a hobby of his.

Ray is survived by his father  - Albert of Marquette; sisters -  Judy(John) Katona of Negaunee and Terri (Robert) Dallos of  Canton, MI; brothers - William of Brighton, MI and Robert (Kendra) of Davidson, MI; special friend  - Lillian Hegedus of Brazil; one uncle – Jim Moss; nine nieces; thirteen nephews; seven great-nieces; five great-nephews ; and nineteen cousins. Raymond was proceeded in death by his mother Mildred and a brother John.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church in Munising at 12:10 p.m.  A time of visiting and fellowship will take place during the luncheon following the Mass.  Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
