Wetmore
Raymond G. Jones, age 81, of Knox Street, Wetmore, died at the Tendercare Health Center on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 6:50 a.m. Ray was born on June 28, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Carl and Julia Jacobson. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was involved in campaigns at Ryukyus and in the Southern Philippines. Ray married Inez E. Woods on July 14, 1945 and was discharged from the Army on December 15, 1945. He worked at Mount Clemens Pottery for many years and retired as superintendent. Ray and Inez moved to Corner Lake in 1971 and in 1999, they moved to Wetmore. Ray was a life member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years - Inez Jones; daughter - Ann Bresnan of Munising; grandsons - Raymond (Nancy) Markus of Clarkston, MI and Rodney Bresnan of Shelton, CT; granddaughter - Shay Bresnan of Milford, CT; brother - Roger (Judy) Jacobson of Chatham; sisters - Nancy Elzerman of Fraser, MI and Sally (Ted) Haubner of Wetmore; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Robert Markus, a brother Arthur Jones, and a sister Ruth Teal.
Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. The Alger County Veterans Council will conduct military honors at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Robert Tripp will conduct Ray's funeral service on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
