Richard "Rick" Brandenburg

Richard "Rick" Brandenburg, age 61, of Capitol Hill Road in Chatham, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at home under the loving care of his children and North Woods Home Hospice. He was born on October 18, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan to A.G. and Dorothy (Cox) Brandenburg. Rick has worked as a Tin Smith since he graduated from Cody High School in Detroit. He worked for Swailes Plumbing and Heating for many years, mentoring numerous apprentices; his work and skills will be irreplaceable. Rick had a passion for riding his Harley-Davidson and loved spending time with his family and friends. Rick was a caring man, who always put others ahead of himself.
He is survived by his four children - Rick Brandenburg of Farmington, MI, Karrie Krueger of Dearborn Heights, MI, Aaron (Hillary) Brandenburg, of Chatham, and Danielle Brandenburg of Chatham; one grandson - Branden Krueger; mother - Dorothy Brandenburg of Parker, CO; siblings - Allen Brandenburg, Jean Smith, and Donna Hart; life long friends Kit and Diane Fortney and numerous other friends who he considered family. Rick was preceded in death by his father A.G.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising, and from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, at the Silver Creek Church in Harvey. Pastor Kevin Taylor will conduct Rick's funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
