Marquette
Richard D. Lintula, age 73, of 2133 Cherry Street, Marquette died at his home, Monday, April 2, 2012. He was born on September 29, 1938 in Marquette, Michigan to the late Erick and Aino (Mustamaki) Lintula. Richard grew up on the family farm in Eben and graduated from Eben High School in 1956. He married Alice Winters and they had three children together. Richard worked construction for many years and then went to work for CCI in 1965. He worked thirty years at the mines and retired in 1995 as shift foreman. Richard was a past member of the Moose. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his children - Tim (Kathie) Lintula of Chatham, Cindy (Kris) Hanson of Sundell, and Jim Lintula of Sundell; grandchildren - Eric Lintula, Bill and Jeffrey Pappineau, and Ericka and Ian Lintula; great-grandchildren; brother - Leslie "Ted" (Gloria) Lintula; sisters - Bertha (Alex) Alto of Eben and Viola Laine of Marquette; sister-in-law - Darlene Lintula of Eben; special friend - Betty Hartman of Marquette; numerous nieces and nephews; and "granddog Kody." Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Martha Laine, Lillian Pohjonen, and Lempi "Micky" Drake, and brothers Elmer, Arne, and Raymond Lintula.
Services will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising on Friday, April 6, 2012. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Roger Kangas will conduct Richard's funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham and he will be escorted by nephews - Mike, Kevin, and Todd Lintula, Loren Drake, Jeff Selesky, and Kenneth Alto.
